My dad saved his McGuffey reader and this McGuffey spelling book from his grade school days. Unfortunately, he had them stored on the floor in the basement of our previous house, and we had a flood one summer that filled the basement with a few inches of water. I spent hours putting paper towels in between the pages of the old books, and hours gently dabbing the water off of slides, including some on the only images my dad had of my great grandmother with me sitting on her lap. She died when I was 3. Although these are not worth anything because of the damage, I still think they are beautiful examples of old graphics and typography.

I have been wandering around with my camera for over 30 years. Everything interests me. Little tiny buds in the forest, vast panoramic landscapes, interesting old buildings, and silent snowy woods. I have had the honor of having a photo of Fort Michilimackinac in Mackinaw City, Michigan chosen for the December 2015 cover of Michigan History magazine. Indeed, as a life-long Michigander, in my portfolio you will find many images of our lovely Michigan shorelines, the Freighters that sail the Great Lakes, Michigan landmark locations such as Mackinac Island, Belle Isle, Greenfield Village, and more.
